Practitioner's Guide for Transportation Professionals
Going the Distance TogetherCTE is pleased to present a practitioner's guide for transportation professionals titled Going the Distance Together - Context Sensitive Solutions for Better Transportation. CTE's Senior Research Associate, Leigh Lane, led the development of the Practitioner's Guide as co-principle investigator of the National Highway Research Program Project 08-68 Citizen's Guide and Discipline-Specific Guide for Context Sensitive Solutions in Transportation. This project culminated into two resources: one for citizens and one for transportation professionals comprised of a diverse group of individuals that not only represent multiple disciplines, but also expertise on multiple modes of transportation and phases of transportation decision-making (policy, planning, programming, environmental studies, design, construction, operations, and maintenance). This guide speaks to all these professionals as "transportation practitioners" charged with helping provide mobility options to all citizens to support a good quality of life.. Read more...



Steve Gurganus Joins CTE
Steve GurganusCTE is pleased to announce the addition of Steve Gurganus as research associate. Gurganus joined CTE in September and will be supporting the CSS National Dialog 2 initiative as well as health and transportation policy development and studies, including transportation effects on disadvantaged populations. Free Technical Assistance from Livability Solutions
Livability SolutionsThrough a grant from the EPA Office of Sustainable Communities’ Building Blocks for Sustainable Communities Program, the Livability Solutions coalition will be offering free technical assistance workshops for up to 12 communities around the U.S.; applications are due by Friday, November 2nd. Livability Solutions is a coalition of professionals from 10 leading nonprofit organizations with deep experience in helping communities throughout the country with sustainable development and putting their planning priorities into action.
